Available post-doctoral position

Description

The group of F. Gambino (CNRS / University of Bordeaux - France) is seeking a highly motivated, talented and self-driven neuroscientist to explore the neural computations performed by the dorsal prefrontal cortex of mice during decision-making. This challenging project will combine a wide range and unique set of electrophysiological, genetic, and optogenetic tools in vivo in the behaving animal to decipher the causal role of learning during a complex decision task but also, and for the first time, when the mouse learns to perform the task.
The position is funded for a duration of 2 years .

The successful applicant will be working in our new Centre Broca Nouvelle-Aquitaine (Bordeaux) that brings together in the same place multiple in vivo skills (surgery, behaviors, 2P calcium imaging, optogenetic, electrophysiology…). It offers a unique environment in Bordeaux to decipher the neuronal underpinnings of complex behavior in the prefrontal cortex of mice.

Applicants must have a PhD with a neuroscience background and have deep experience with in vivo rodent brain research. Applicants should have experience in awake electrophysiology during behavior (single unit recording, tetrode and optrode, microdrive, opto-tagging,...), necessarily with strong interest in programming and big data analysis. Applicants are expected to have at least one 1st author peer-reviewed publication.

If you are interested in working in this field of research, please send your curriculum vitae, past research background and achievements, along with contact information for at least two references to: frederic.gambino@u-bordeaux.fr. Review of applications will start immediately and continue until the position is filled.
