Neuroscience Talks

Bordeaux Neurocampus Federation and the city of Pessac
propose public lectures on Neuroscience

Within the fifth edition 2016/2017, three conferences are proposed:

- Thursday October 13th, 2016, during the ’Fête de la Science’ (October 6-16, 2016)

Didier Dulon, DR Inserm, head of the Inserm Unity (U1220) "Neurophysiologie de la synapse auditive", and Vincent Darrouzet, Prof. & head of the ORL service (Bordeaux CHU) will talk about "Hearing and deafness" (see the flyer).
The moderator of the debate is Thierry Amédée.

- Thursday January 19th, 2017:

Romuald Nargeot, MC (INCIA) and Dominique Guehl, Prof. (IMN), will talk about "Organization and movement disorders" (see the flyer).
Moderator: Jean-Luc Morel

And the next talk
- Thursday March 16th, 2017, during the "Semaine du cerveau 2017" event organized by the Neuroscience Society (see the website).

Pierre Philip, Prof. (SANPSY) will talk about "Virtual agents and e-health: Myth or Reality?
Moderator: Rabia Benazzouz

Conferences 2015/2016:

- Thursday October 8th, 2015, during the ’Fête de la Science 2015’ (October 7-11, 2015)

Thomas Boraud, DR CNRS at the Institute of Neurodegenerative Diseases (IMN - CNRS/Université de Bordeaux), presented his research and talked about the last book he wrote "Matière à décision" (published in February 2015) to better understand how our brain works and how our choices come up (see the flyer).

Moderator:Jean-Luc Morel

- Thursday January 14th, 2016: "Neurogenesis and memory"

Sophie Tronel, CR CNRS at the NeuroCentre Magendie talked about neurogenesis in the adult hippocampus in relation with memory process (neurogenèse dans l’hippocampe adulte en relation avec les processus de mémorisation).
Moderator: Thierry Amédée.

- Thursday March 17th, 2016: "Everything you always wanted to know about brain" during the "Semaine du cerveau 2016".
More than 150 attendees enjoyed the interactive format of the conference.

Three local neuroscientists presented their research area and answered the audience questions:

  • Thierry Amédée, DR CNRS - IINS*, works on the characterization of the relationships between neuroinflammation in the brain induced by Alzheimer’s disease and alteration of some functional neural networks.
  • Jean-Luc Morel, CR CNRS - IMN**, works on the links between vascular disease and memory disorders.
  • Rabia Bouali-Benazzouz, IR Univ. of Bordeaux - IINS, focuses her research activity on the basic mechanisms of chronic pain in the nervous system.

* IINS: Interdisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience
** IMN: Institute of Neurodegenerative Diseases
