IINS Meeting : Science, Community and Research perspectives for 2026

On january 8th, IINS community gathered for its monthly meeting, bringing together researchers, students and staff for a scientific and social event in order to kick-start the new year.

The day began by New Year greetings from our director, Laurent Groc. It was also the occasion to recap the major events that occurred in 2025 and to present the objectives for the year to come.

After a shared meal, a poster session was held by nineteen PhDs throughout the afternoon. This session led to dynamic, enthusiastic and rich scientific discussions between the PhDs who presented their work and different members of the research teams.

Then, in the auditorium, we welcomed a career session on the topic “What opportunities exist beyond academia?”. The speakers were four former IINS members who have pursued careers in various fields. Zoé Jamet works in genetic analysis for human identification, Camille Miermon is a software development engineer, Benjamin Compans works for Abbelight on super-resolution imaging solutions and Franck Aby is co-founder of the start-up Apateya that develops chronic pain treatment. The four of them gave valuable feedbacks on switching from academia to private companies.

To close this rich day, all IINS members were invited to share a convivial moment. During the evening, Laurent Groc congratulated all PhDs for their great work and announced the three winners of the poster session. Congratulations to 1st prize Vasika Venugopal (PhD, IINS), 2nd prize Tessa Scrabello (PhD, IINS) and 3rd prize Monica Fernandez (Engineer, BIC).
